As of 7 November, Classic World is Maple Island and Victoria Island, 1st and 2nd job, and a level cap of 100. Orbis, El Nath, Ludibrium and 3rd job are not in the game.
Forgotten Hollow is reported for 18 November. Nexon has written that it "will open in November", and the date comes from Nexon's MapleStory Fest panel, not a written notice. There is no date for 3rd job or new regions such as Orbis and Ludibrium. A 3rd job test server is reported for early 2027, from the same panel.
Now is a fine time to start, but free rewards end soon. Treat 17 November as the deadline, since the 18 November maintenance has no posted time. At level 10 or above, take [Event] The Journey BeginsLv 10 from
Maple Administrator and bring 30
Maple Leaf a day. Start by 8 November to reach the Day 10 reward, 3
Safety Charm. 9 November is the last start that still reaches it, and that needs a claim on 18 November, maintenance day. The free
Mark of the BetaLv 25 from level 25 also closes soon, and Founder's Package mailbox claims end on 30 November. Every date and step is in What is in the game.
No to both. You need no real money for any class, map, party quest or boss. NX buys convenience and looks: resets,
Safety Charm, store permits, pets and cosmetics. Nothing in the Cash Shop catalogue sells stats directly. Founder's Packages were cosmetic bundles, and two tiers included the paid early access. Nexon ended their sale on 14 October.
A pet is comfort, not a requirement. Cash Shop pets are 30-day rentals, and one only drinks potions for you once you buy it an auto-potion skill. The free
Snail from [Event] The Journey BeginsLv 10 is a short free trial of a pet, so try it before you buy anything. It expires on 18 November at 23:59 UTC however late you claim it, and any skill bought for it vanishes then.
Before you spend anything, read NX and the Cash Shop and Pets.
You are looking at modern MapleStory. On Steam, MapleStory and Classic World come bundled, so one listing installs both, and much of the advice online is written for the modern game.
Classic World has four classes: Warrior, Magician, Bowman and Thief. Each picks a 2nd-job branch at level 30, ten branches in all. On Steam, link your Nexon account and launch MapleStory. Nexon describes a Classic World option there but has not said where it sits. If you cannot find it, use the Nexon Launcher: find MapleStory and select the Classic World toggle.
If a tip mentions Orbis, El Nath, 3rd job or modern systems, it was not written for this game. Classic World also has its own balance, so older damage charts and skill orders are not safe to reuse. Start with Getting started.
There are two advancements: 1st job at level 10 and 2nd job at level 30.
At level 10, talk to your class instructor:
Have 20 to 25 of your main stat by level 10, which covers your first weapon, and decide your class before you spend AP. Level 30 is a short quest chain with one real test, and you choose your branch at the end of it. Treat both choices as permanent: the client holds no item that changes a job, so read your branch guide before you go. The full walkthrough is in Job advancement.
Not as of 7 November. Guilds are not in the game, and no written Classic World notice we read mentions them. They are reported for 9 December from Nexon's MapleStory Fest panel, which is not a written promise.
Until then, one report so far says players keep in touch through friends lists. For party content, see Kerning PQ. Upcoming content is tracked in What is in the game.
Not that we know of. Classic World has one world, Windia, which had 40 channels at the 21 October launch. We found no Nexon notice of a second world or of a regional server, and Nexon has not said where Windia is hosted.
Some Cash Shop rules do depend on your country, such as the rules on Mystery items in the Netherlands and Belgium. See the Netherlands and Belgium answer and Install, account and controls.
Nobody has shown that any map or channel is reliably quiet, so we can give options but not a promise.
The training tool lists maps for your level and class.
Players report that levels 10 to 20 are the hardest on a mage's wallet and that it eases by about 20 to 25. If you are broke at 13, you are not doing it wrong.
The sums and the quest list are in Magician build and Potions.
It usually gets easier. Players report the squeeze eases around level 20 to 25, and many report a surplus from the late teens on with no NX. Nobody has measured mesos per hour, so read that as a trend, not a promise.
What helps most:
The full ladder by level is in How to make mesos.
Kerning City Party Quest is the only party quest live as of 7 November. Every member needs level 21 or higher, and the leader talks to
Lakelis in Kerning CityVictoria Road on Channels 3 to 12, as of Nexon's 21 October notes. A party of four is reference data, not confirmed in Classic World.
Nobody has measured the waits. In reports up to 30 October, players said Channels 3 to 12 were often too full to switch into, and we do not know if they are still that full. One report so far says groups form in town chat near
Lakelis. Pick your channel first and gather the party there.
Before you enter, everyone takes Proof of CompanionshipLv 21, which pays the first-clear reward. Stage notes are in the Kerning PQ guide.
Who gets EXP and drops when several players hit a boss is not documented, and nobody has published a test. So a kill you helped with may pay you nothing, and we cannot tell you the rule.
ManoLv 20 lives on Thicket Around the Beach IIIVictoria Road. Its base respawn in the client is one hour, and Nexon made field boss timers more random on 21 October without saying by how much. Plan on at least an hour, try other channels, and log kills on boss timers.
Most players come for A rainbow snail shell that makes wishes come true!?Lv 20, which lists no reward. The four steps before it pay 7,477 EXP without Mano. See the Mano guide.
We do not know yet. Player reports conflict, and nobody has published a test of how EXP or drops split when two players hit the same mob. Nexon has not documented it for normal mobs or for bosses. Party EXP is the same story: a party bonus exists, but no figures are confirmed.
Meanwhile, do not plan around a split rule you read somewhere. If you want to share a map with someone, party up, which is friendlier and safer. If strangers keep hitting your mobs, change channel.
What is still open is listed at the end of the leveling guide.
The chat terms you will see most:
The game does not say why, and we have not confirmed the rule. Players point to two causes:
Nexon's Debt System reclaims mesos tied to real-money or unfair trades, and how debt is calculated is not published. If your account is in debt, since 29 October you also cannot pick up items or mesos other players dropped. Drops from monsters you defeat are still allowed. A login popup tells you if you are in debt, and you repay in a town. See Lie detector, bots and bans.
Check your quest log. If you already have the count, hand it in. Quest chains and their items are in Key quests.
Yes, but expect to wait. Five quests need a field boss or its item:
Do the rest of each chain first, try other channels, and log kills on boss timers. See Key quests.
Carry
Return Scroll to Sleepywood.
Mr. Sweatbottom sells it inside Regular SaunaDungeon in SleepywoodDungeon, and he is the only seller in our shop data, so buy a stack while you are there.
In our shop data, Sleepywood sells no
Red Potion or
Blue Potion. The sauna has
Orange and
Pure Water for MP, and
Meat,
Orange Potion and
White Potion for HP, and
Mr. Oh keeps storage in town.
Going down to Ant Tunnel ParkDungeon? Take a Return Scroll. No cab stands in the park to take you back. In our shop data its
24 Hr Mobile Store sells food and
Pure Water, but no potions and no Return Scroll.
Cab fares are not in our data. Town services are in Areas and towns.
Yes, if you like the class. Players on melee classes report losing mobs on busy maps, but that is mostly a crowding problem, and nobody has measured warriors against other classes since launch.
A warrior has the tools for it.
Slash Blast hits up to 6 mobs around you,
Power Strike handles single targets, and basic attacks cost nothing while mesos are short.
What to do: change channel before you change map, train where you hit reliably, and do not skip
Precise Strikes. By our estimate accuracy is the warrior's weak spot from 30 to 50. Maps are in Warrior leveling, builds in Warrior build.
There is no agreed best class. Published tier lists disagree, none shows its method, and no live EXP-per-hour figure exists for any class. Choose by how you want to play:
Solo strength has not been measured either. You can hold 3 characters, so try one to level 10 before you commit. See Pick your class.
Classic World has its own balance in its own client, so older numbers and skill orders are not safe to reuse. Crits are a good example: in the client, every class except Magician gets a critical skill.
In our shop data,
Raymond sells
Sharpness Potion and
Max sells
Destructive Potion, short crit buffs. These are the citizen stores in Henesys and Kerning City, so they may need citizenship, which is not confirmed. See Citizenship.
Read any damage chart with its date in mind, because Nexon changed several skills on 29 October. The class guides argue from the current client. Start at Pick your class.
Yes, with an
SP Reset Scroll. It resets all your skills except Beginner skills. An
AP Reset ScrollLv 10 does the same for stats, including AP put into HP and MP. Neither changes your job or branch.
Both are Cash items, and both changed hands between players for mesos in the week to 7 November, so before you pay NX, ask in chat what one recently sold for. Store listings show only asking prices. The Convenience pack also holds one of each, once per account.
Two things are not confirmed: the level needed to use an SP Reset, and whether 1st-job points can be spent again after you advance. Plan the new build in the free SP planner first. More in NX and the Cash Shop.
Nobody can say yet. There is no agreed tier list, the published ones do not show their method, and most predate Nexon's 29 October balance patch, which changed several 2nd-job skills. No live EXP-per-hour figures exist for any branch. Players often assume Bandit leads on single targets, but nobody has shown a test since that patch.
Choose by what you want from the job: area attacks, single-target speed, party support or range. Each class's build guide compares its branches from the client skill tables: Warrior build, Magician build, Bowman build and Thief build. Job advancement covers the choice for every class.
Decide at level 10 by the 2nd job you want, because the attack you max sets your path.
Do not split points between them. If you truly cannot decide, Lucky Seven keeps both 2nd jobs open, though Bandit then needs a reset.
Already spent the wrong way? An
SP Reset Scroll resets all skills except Beginner skills. Whether your 1st-job points come back as spendable SP after you advance has not been tested, so have a plan if they do not. Older advice on these skills does not carry over. See Thief build.
Views split, and nobody has measured it. Some players call Cleric the best support, others say it feels weak solo.
What the client shows:
Holy Arrow is your attack, and it hits one target. Cleric has no group attack.
Heal restores your party's HP and damages only undead monsters, and how hard it hits them is untested.
Bless cuts damage your party takes.
Where it shines is undead maps. Among monsters of level 40 to 49, holy weakness is the most common mark, and with a party Heal and Bless pay more. Pick it for party play and undead maps, not for solo speed. See the Cleric guide.
For gear you want to wear, yes. For profit, almost never at NPC prices. In the client, 224 of 275 equipment recipes charge a fee equal to the item's NPC value, so for those recipes selling the result to an NPC never pays, and only 8 of 366 recipes beat NPC value at full cost.
At player prices, some recipes come out ahead, by our estimate from sales to 7 November: 49 of 134 well-sold gear recipes and 10 of 13 well-sold scroll recipes gain, most scrolls by small sums. Players report that crafting loses money, and none reports a profit yet, so test one before you commit.
What to do: check market prices for the finished item first. The board is new and may show no reports yet, so ask in chat what recently sold. Craft if you want the item and buying costs more, or to sell if the finished item sells for more than the fee and materials. Keep ores and gems you will use, and value them at what players pay, not what an NPC pays.
Recipes, ranks and the few exceptions are in Crafting.
Nexon's Cash Shop notices state two rules.
Mystery Fashion Crate items obtained in the Netherlands cannot be traded outside the account, though they can move within it and be exchanged for
Aurora Stamp. Players in Belgium, Slovakia and Brazil cannot buy Mystery items.
Players in the Netherlands and Belgium also reported all trading blocked between 7 and 24 October. We do not know whether that went beyond crate items, or whether it still applies. Nexon has not said what decides your region.
Test a small trade before you plan on selling, and ask Nexon Player Support about your own account. See the Free Market guide.
Usually one of these:
Full rules are in the Free Market guide.
Nexon's rule, restated on 22 October: all trading features open 24 hours after a character on your account reaches level 15. The wait is per account, so a new character on an old account does not wait.
Until then you can neither trade nor drop items, though Kerning PQ coupons and passes can be dropped. Watch your Etc tab and clear known junk at an NPC.
There is no Auction House or Meso Market in Classic World, so every sale is player to player. Enter the Free Market, Free Market EntranceHidden Street, through the portal in Henesys MarketVictoria Road or in PerionVictoria Road. Prices, stores and staying safe are in the Free Market guide.
Far more than an NPC pays. Every equipment scroll sells to an NPC for 1 meso, so its whole value is on the player market, and prices move within days. That is why we print no figures here.
To check one:
Off-class scrolls still have buyers, so sell those to players. Keep or sell covers which to use and which to sell.
Yes, for tradable ones. NX never turns into mesos directly. A player buys a tradable Cash item with NX and sells it to another player for mesos. Tradable Cash items sold for mesos in the week to 7 November, so a free player can buy them that way too.
Three limits:
Our market board does not cover Cash items, so to price one, ask in chat what one recently sold for. Store listings show only asking prices. Read NX and the Cash Shop before you buy.
Choose by the stat your class uses. From level 12 you join HenesysVictoria Road through
Arthur or Kerning CityVictoria Road through
Roxy. The scroll shops differ in our shop data:
Flint in Henesys sells Overall STR and DEX scrolls,
Ben in Kerning City sells Overall INT and LUK.
Can you change it? We do not know for sure. One report so far says changing town cost mesos and that citizenship applies to the whole account. Nexon has not said. Decide before you sign up, as if changing is costly. Whether a non-citizen can buy from the other town's shop is not confirmed either. See Citizenship.
Equipment scrolls, the ones that add stats to gear, not travel scrolls such as return scrolls. Their names end in Lesser, Intermediate, Greater or Chaos, like
Gloves Attack Scroll: Intermediate.
You get them free from quests: Jane and the MushroomLv 20 at level 20, Proof of CompanionshipLv 21 from your first Kerning PQ clear at 21, and more later. In the client many of these rewards look like random rolls, so you will often get one for another class. Sell those to players, never to an NPC, which pays 1 meso.
Keep what fits your gear and sell the rest. Which quests pay what is in Keep or sell.
Open a ticket with Nexon Player Support on Nexon's MapleStory support site. It is the only route we know of. Nexon names Player Support for Debt System errors, but we found no published process for appealing a ban, and no published timeline.
When you write, keep it factual: your account, your characters, and when it happened.
Know two things before you wait on an answer. A ban covers your whole account, in both MapleStory and Classic World, wherever the violation happened. And among the players we found reporting a ban they call false, none has reported getting the account back so far.
Nobody has published the cause. Players report a ban message on their very first Steam login with a fresh account, mostly around launch, and Nexon has not explained it in any notice we read.
Open a ticket with Nexon Player Support on Nexon's MapleStory support site, with your account details and when it happened. We found no player report of this being lifted so far, and no published appeal process.
Bans cover the whole account, in MapleStory and Classic World. Account rules are in Install, account and controls.
The only trigger Nexon describes is another player using a Lie Detector Test on you, such as
Lie Detector TestLv 10. Nexon has not said whether the game ever tests on its own. Citizens can buy the test. In the client it works only while the target is hunting, with a repeat limit on the same player. The client holds three versions with different limits, and which one shops sell is not in our data.
Players report two common reasons: long repetitive play, and griefing. Nexon has not published how often one player can be tested.
What to do:
More in Lie detector, bots and bans.
Nothing confirms it. Nexon officially supports DualSense, DualShock and Xbox controllers, and has published nothing linking controllers to the lie detector or to bot detection. A few players suspect controller input draws tests, but nobody has shown it.
If you play on a controller, use one of those three, connected by USB or Bluetooth, with controller support turned on in Game Options. Other controllers are not officially supported. Nexon's rules ban macros and any method that plays the game for you. It has published no list of allowed input tools, so do not assume a key repeater is safe.
You are sent to the Truth BoothTruth Booth. Nexon's Grand Launch notes say you must stay logged in there for a set duration before you can leave, and you cannot move, use skills, chat, use items or join any content.
Nexon has not published how long that lasts, whether it grows with repeat failures, or whether a failed test leads to anything more, such as a ban. Player reports conflict on all of it, so we print no duration.
Stay logged in until you are released. If you believe the test was unfair, note the time and channel and open a ticket on Nexon's MapleStory support site. See Lie detector, bots and bans.
Players report that it did. Several say their Nexon account was banned after they refunded a Founder's Package through Steam, and we found no player report of such a ban being lifted. Nexon has not published a refund rule for Classic World in any notice we read.
A ban covers your whole Nexon account, in MapleStory and Classic World. So ask Nexon Player Support before you request any refund.
Founder's Package sales ended on 14 October. If you bought one, claim it from your mailbox by 30 November at 23:59 UTC. See What is in the game.
Use the game's Report window, which Nexon's 21 October notes mention. The steps, and any daily limit, are not in any notice we read.
Citizens can also buy a Lie Detector Test, such as
Lie Detector TestLv 10, and use it on a character that is clearly a bot. A repeat limit applies, so one test per suspect is the sensible use. Someone grinding hard next to you does not count, and players report griefing with tests as a real problem.
Nexon says it improved bot detection on 4 November, with no details. See Lie detector, bots and bans.
Start with these steps:
Nexon has not published more on the "not verified" message. If it stays after the steps above, open a ticket the same way.
Players report many login errors at once on 6 October, the first day of Founder's Access. Install and linking steps are in Install, account and controls.
On Steam, MapleStory and Classic World are bundled, and Nexon says you need both installed. So the download includes modern MapleStory, and players report 50 to 70 GB. Nexon publishes no sizes.
If you only want Classic World, use the Nexon Launcher. Nexon calls its Classic World client standalone, and players report a far smaller download. Install the launcher from Nexon's website, log in, find MapleStory and select the Classic World toggle.
We do not recommend removing files from either install. See Install, account and controls.
We cannot promise either. Nexon's notices cover the Nexon Launcher, Steam and macOS. We found no Nexon notice about Linux, Proton or Steam Deck, either supporting them or ruling on them.
Some players report getting the game to run this way, but that says nothing about support or account risk, and a ban covers your whole account in MapleStory and Classic World. If you want to play this way, ask Nexon Player Support first.
Connect it by USB or Bluetooth, then turn on controller support in Game Options. It stays off until you enable it.
Nexon officially supports DualSense, DualShock and Xbox controllers. Other types are not officially supported and may not work properly.
Still nothing? Check the controller works on your PC outside the game, then restart the game with it connected. Nexon has not published a button layout guide. If a supported controller still fails, contact Nexon Player Support. See Install, account and controls.
Maybe not. Nexon has fixed several client disconnects since launch, most recently on 29 October, including one on Character Select for new players and one after some channel changes. What causes other disconnects is unknown.
What to do:
Update first. Nexon closes its maintenance notices the same way: restart the Nexon Launcher or Steam so you get the latest client update.
On Steam, players suggest Steam's own file check: in your library, open MapleStory's Properties, then Installed Files, and verify the files. Whether that fixes the error is not confirmed: reports so far are mixed. Do not reinstall first, and do not delete or edit game files by hand.
If the message stays, contact Nexon Player Support. See Install, account and controls.
Both reach the same game on the same account, so choose by what you want installed. The Nexon Launcher gets you a standalone Classic World client. Steam bundles MapleStory and Classic World, so you need both installed, which is why its download is much larger.
If you only want Classic World, use the launcher. If you want Steam, link your Nexon account first, on the Nexon website under Account Settings. Both routes work on macOS.
Step by step in Install, account and controls.
Classic World runs on your Nexon account. MapleStory and Classic World are one service on one account, and NX is the only thing they share.
In-game names do not carry over from MapleStory, and a ban in either game covers the account. See Install, account and controls.
Players report NX purchase errors through Steam around launch. Steam support sorted it for some, and one report so far says buying on Nexon's own website worked instead. NX belongs to your Nexon account and is shared with MapleStory.
Before you retry, check whether a charge went through, so you do not pay twice. For a failed or missing purchase, contact Steam support or Nexon Player Support.
Your first NX purchase also starts a 96-hour Cash item trade restriction. See NX and the Cash Shop.
Yes. Nexon's Grand Launch notes say you choose Classic Style or Modern Style as your default bindings, and Modern Style supports WASD movement. One report so far says you can open key settings and drag skills and items onto keys. One report so far says mouse buttons cannot be bound, and another that movement is arrows or WASD only.
Set a potion key early. Playing on a controller instead? See controller setup. More in Install, account and controls.
No. Nexon says you can have only one game open at a time, MapleStory or Classic World.
They run as one service on one account. NX is the only thing shared between them: Maple Points, MVP status and in-game names do not carry over. See Install, account and controls.
Search for it and open its item page. The page lists what our data holds: mobs that drop it, where to farm it, shops that sell it, quests that pay it and recipes that make it, with each drop marked with how sure we are.
For materials and the items players search for most, read Where to get it and Farming. For a price, use market prices. The board is new and may show no reports yet, so ask in chat what recently sold.
If a page shows no source in our data, that is a gap in our tables, not proof the item never drops. Player stores may still have it. If you find a source, report a drop.
Counted means a small kill count from Classic World players, not client data, so treat every rate as an estimate. We show the kills behind each one, and a count needs a few hundred kills to mean much.
Reference, unconfirmed means the mob is listed for that item with no Classic count. It is reference data, so we show no rate for it.
No rate recorded means the mob is listed for the item with no rate at all.
No source in our data means we have no mob, shop or quest on record for that item. A missing row is a gap in our data, not proof that an item never drops. If you have a count of your own, report a drop.
We say how sure each line is:
Most guides end with a "Not confirmed yet" list. Advice written for older versions or for modern MapleStory does not carry over, so if another source disagrees, check its date. Start at What is in the game.
