Keep or sell: what you need later, and free scrolls from quests
Which drops and quest items to hold because a quest or recipe needs them later, what is safe to vendor, and every scroll quests pay, with which rolls look random and which look like your pick.
Every number and name on this page is read live from the game data.
Three rules cover most of it.
Never sell an equipment scroll to an NPC. All 208 pay 1 meso. Players report selling quest scrolls for early capital.
NPC value tells you nothing about need. sells for 1 meso, and two quests stop without it. sells for 10 and goes into 27 recipes.
Your bag is the real limit. Do not hoard everything. Keep what is on this page and clear the rest.
Trading opens 168 hours (7 days) after reaching level 15, confirmed in game. Until then you cannot sell to players, so bank anything sellable and vendor only true junk.
For one item at a time, the keep or sell tool shows what still needs it and what it is worth to sell.
Keep for quests
These are the items that cost the most to replace, by the level they are asked for. Everything is taken from the quest steps themselves.

Keep for crafting, or sell to crafters
If you craft, keep the inputs for your profession. If you do not, list them for players. Do not hand them to an NPC unless your bag is full. The exception is goods that sold at about an NPC price, named in the farming guide. Once your own quests and recipes are covered, those can go straight to an NPC.
: every scroll recipe takes 10.
: one makes 10 , which 82 recipes use.
Ores: an NPC pays 20 to 500 mesos. Check the market before you vendor any.
Gem ores: cutting one to sell the gem to an NPC loses money on every gem except .
: 5,000 from an NPC, but the and recipes need one. Check the market first.
: 1,000 from an NPC. Its upgrade chance is unpublished, so check what crafters pay.
Safe to vendor
No recipe and no quest step in this client uses these. Check the market, then sell them to an NPC.

The two crystal ores are the ones to watch for. Reference data lists on and on , and , with no rate. The rest come from high-level mobs. Below level 40, nearly every Etc drop has some use, so the choice is about bag space: keep what the tables above name and clear the rest.
The hard call: Arwen's Glass Shoe
Reference data lists on , not confirmed in Classic World. If you get one, report the drop. at level 29 pays 4,430 EXP (by our estimate about 5% of the level), 921 mesos, and either or , 1 in 2 each.
Handing it in pays little in mesos, but the reward sells too. In the week to 7 Nov the shoe, the Wing and the Ice all sold far above an NPC, the shoe and Wing about level and the Ice well under them. The reward is random, 1 in 2 each, so on average selling the shoe comes out a little ahead, and the quest adds the EXP. Sell it if you want mesos now. Hand it in if you want the EXP or the reward for a recipe. Check the market on the day.
Free scrolls from quests
Do these quests for the EXP and treat the scroll as a bonus you will usually sell. Only the rows marked likely your pick could hand you the scroll you want, and those are not confirmed.
Reward weights below come from the client. We read equal weights as a random roll. "Likely your pick" means the client marks the rows differently from random ones and gives no weight. We expect a choice, because older versions worked that way, but nobody has reported completing one in Classic World.

Each town's arc pays its own copy, so count the paired ids as one reward. Forgotten Hollow quests pay scrolls too, but as of 7 Nov that area is not open.
Use it or sell it
Plan to sell random rolls. Jane's scroll matches your weapon only 1 time in 14. A thief gets a claw or dagger scroll 1 time in 7. An off-class scroll is money, not a miss.
Holding a ? Sell it if your grade unlocks Lessers at or . Use it if you cannot buy Lessers. The shop's +1 costs 40,000. In the week to 7 Nov the Intermediate sold for many times that, see the sold table. sold too, for less, and for far less. sold higher, but only a few times. Check the market, then see Scrolling for the sum.
Sell every Greater unless the item is finished and has a slot to spare. On expected gain per try, an Intermediate is +2 at 60%, so +1.2, only 20% better than a +1 Lesser that always lands. A weapon Greater is +4 at 10%, so +0.4, and a gloves Greater is +0.3. Magic Attack scrolls are double these numbers, and the ratio is the same. A Greater cannot destroy the item, but you will miss nine times in ten. On weapons no shop in our tables sells a Lesser, but players sell some types for well under the Intermediate, so compare both.
rolls the tier and the attack type for you. If it pays an Intermediate of your attack type, decide as above. If it pays a Greater or the wrong type, sell it.
If you do get a pick, take your main stat if you will wear the item. Otherwise take what sells, and check the market before you hand in the quest. The client filters and by class. If they are picks, as we expect, any weapon type your class has should be on offer, not only the one you carry.
Spare the Chaos. is 10% to succeed, and each failure has a 50% chance to destroy the gloves. Use it on spare gloves or sell it.
Do not walk into Stumpy alone for it. is a level 35 boss with 19,220 HP that hits for 644 before defence, and whether one character can beat it solo is unknown. Plan on a party and read Stumpy first. The last step pays 5 fame and 3,937 EXP, but the six talk steps pay 17,712 EXP before step 7 and the fight.
Alts repeat these. An account can hold 3 characters and the rewards are per character. One report so far of a player running quest scrolls on alts for income. is the obvious one to repeat.
