Where to get it: ores, gems, leather, wood and quest items
Every source we can show for the materials players hunt: mobs, shops and quests, with counted drops kept apart from reference data, and when to buy instead of farm.
Every number and name on this page is read live from the game data.
First ask how many you need. If a quest wants one item, buy it from a shop or a player. If recipes want a stack, farm what a mob drops often and treat ore and gems as a bonus. Farming ore on purpose is the slowest thing on this page.
How to read the tables. Counted means a small kill count from Classic World players, not client data, so treat every rate as an estimate. We show the kills behind each one. Reference means the mob is listed for that item with no Classic count: reference data, not confirmed in Classic World. We show the lowest-level mobs only; each item page has the full list. Shop prices come from our NPC tables. A missing row is a gap in our data, not proof an item never drops. If you have a count of your own, report a drop.
A count needs a few hundred kills to mean much. 's 2.5% is one ore in 40 kills. It suggests the drop exists, not the rate.
One-off quest items
. Two shops sell it at 1,120: inside and in . That park holds level 22 to 27 mobs, has no cab to take you back, is 9 maps on foot from Sleepywood, and its store sells no Return Scroll, so bring your own. We show no drop or quest source. Two quests ask for one: at level 10 and at 44. A player may undercut the NPC's 1,120, so check the market before you walk to a shop.
Andre's Request more than pays for the bottle: 351 mesos plus , which an NPC buys for 1,200, is 1,551 against 1,120, so 431 mesos ahead. The catch is the chain. It comes after , which asks 15 . For why mages buy it by the stack, see Potions.
. 220 mesos at in , in , and , the park store above, which is not a trip to make at this level. wants one at level 19, plus 10 and 10 . Buy it. He pays 1,380 EXP, 614 mesos and a random gem, and the cheapest gem sells to an NPC for 200.
. This is the last ask of the Perion fossil chain, at (level 17). Sources:
- in sells it for 9,000.
- at level 18 pays this or , 1 in 2 each.
- Reference data lists and , with no rate.
Do Alex's chain first and take the free roll. If you miss, the sum is this: the step pays 982 EXP, 555 mesos and , which needs level 25 and sells for 3,750. Buying at 9,000 and selling the reward nets you minus 4,695 mesos for 982 EXP, by our estimate about 9% of level 17. Players sold well under the shop's 9,000 in early November, so once you can trade, buy from a player instead. At the shop price this is poor value, so leave the step until 9,000 mesos is small. The same step wants 15 and 20 , which reference data lists only on , unconfirmed.
Ores are a by-product
Counted rates sit around 2% to 3%, and an ingot takes 5 ores. dropped at 2.4% over 207 kills, so one ingot is about 200 kills by our estimate. In the same counts, a mob's own Etc item usually drops on 45% to 48% of kills. One report so far calls ore the worst input to farm yourself, and these numbers agree.
Why demand never stops: or goes into 171 of the 366 recipes. Ten Screws take one and one , so 10 ores and 200 mesos in fees.
Where to pick them up anyway: has the most and spawn points, with mixed in. Between them those three cover , , , and , and you collect and while you kill.

The largest Bronze sample, 2.4% over 633 kills, comes from in , a job test map you cannot farm. It does back up the Stump figure. "Doll step" means 's and , listed under quest sources below.
has no counted source. Take the 5 from at 14 and buy the rest.
Gem ores: one ore, one gem
A gem takes 1 ore where an ingot takes 5, but the ore is far rarer. gave one in 207 kills and gave two in 769. That is 200 to 400 kills per gem on very thin samples, about the same work as an ingot. Each of the 24 scroll recipes takes 3 gems, so buy gems for scrolls unless a quest roll hands you some.

Need one for at level 10? Buy it from a player once you can trade. That opens 168 hours (7 days) after reaching level 15, so until then the quest waits, or you try the reference mobs. We have no counted source, and the reference rows carry no Classic count. The same goes for the cut that asks at 15, or cut your own at Arcforging 1. It is also the widest gem, in 35 recipes, so a spare will not go to waste.
Refining does not pay at NPC prices. Ore plus fee costs more than the result sells for on every ingot and gem, with one exception: gains 800 mesos each. Refine for your own recipes, or check what players pay first.
Leather, cloth and wood
Here the rule flips. Recipes that take a mob's own Etc item need far fewer kills, so learn the higher recipes up to rank 8. Kills below are our estimates from the counted rates. Where a rate has no count we assume 46%, the middle of the counted range.
| You want | Recipe | Source | Kills each, estimated |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 , Leatherworking 1 | 7.5% over 40 kills | About 67 | |
| 10 , Leatherworking 4 | , no count | About 22 | |

| 5 , Carpentry 2 | 46% over 37 kills | About 11 | |

| 10 , Tailoring 1 | 48% over 40 kills | About 21 | |

| 3 , Arcforging 2 | About 40 |
Some practical notes:
- Wood: kills are not the only cost. has 371 HP against 133 for , so a weak character still gets wood faster from Stumps. The fee also rises with rank, from 100 to 500. Once you kill either in one hit, is half the work.
- Leather and cloth: in drops , , and at once. It is the best single stop for Tailoring and Leatherworking, though every figure rests on the same 40 kills.
- Screws without ore: 10 make 3 Screws at Weaponcrafting rank 5 with no fee. By our estimate that is about 7 kills a Screw against about 40 through ore, if Iron Ore drops like Bronze. The catch is : 500 W.DEF against 100 M.DEF, so this is a mage's job.
Other materials
- : seven quests and two recipes ask for it, from level 10. Reference data lists at level 11, with no Classic count and not confirmed in Classic World, and , and ask for Dark Stump kills alongside it. Dark Stumps are mixed in on , so watch for it there and report the drop if you see one. These chains need Leaf first: (15) comes before Andre's and Chris's requests, (10) before , and (30) before Maya's collections, the Gladius chain and the level 47 Henesys arc.
- : in 27 recipes, including all 24 scroll recipes, which take 10 each. Reference data lists , , and , with no Classic count. Do not farm it on purpose. Keep what drops while you hunt those mobs and buy the rest for scroll recipes.
- : in 23 recipes and five quests. Reference data lists , and . Bank it once you reach those mobs at level 45. , , and need 70 between them, as Keep or sell shows. adds 20 more, once you know where a comes from.
- Dyes (, and three others): 1,000 mesos at the grocers , , , and .
Quests that pay materials
Two sets matter early. and at 14 give the 10 ores for 10 Screws, and at 22 gives the ingots outright, once you are past the step in its chain. Those 10 ores only reach Screws if the masters' level 10 quests have not used them: takes 5 and one ingot of each, so doing both costs 15 ores before your first Screw. The Cursed Doll steps at 36 are the only quests that pay the other ores and most gem ores, but you do not choose which, so take them as a bonus.
