Thief build
Thief levels 1 to 30: the three paths from level 10, AP and SP by level, how to choose Assassin or Bandit, and the gear you can really get at each level.
Every number and name on this page is read live from the game data.
Your real choice comes at 10, not 30. The attack you max in 1st job sets your path, so decide before you spend SP.
| Path | 1st-job attack | At 30 | What it costs | Pick it if |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Assassin | Assassin | Claws, stars, MP | You want range for the whole game | |
| Sindit | Bandit on a claw, then a reset and a dagger around 40 | An , a claw and stars, then a dagger | You want Bandit later and range while you level | |
| Dagger Bandit | Bandit | No reset, no stars | You want melee from the start and the simplest bill |
Do not split points between the two attacks. Double Stab does nothing on a claw plan, and Bandits who switch reset it anyway. If you truly cannot decide at 10, take Lucky Seven: it keeps both 2nd jobs open, though Bandit then needs a reset.
Assassin or Bandit
We do not rank them, and we do not think anyone can yet. No live EXP-per-hour figures exist for any class. A launch-era model puts Bandit ahead on one target that stands still. It ignores walking, misses and MP, so treat it as a hint and choose on how you want to play.
| What matters to you | Assassin | Bandit |
|---|---|---|
| Reach | Lucky Seven reads 200 and adds up to 200, so about 400 by our reading | reaches about 95, 180. You walk to each mob |
| Main attack | Lucky Seven 20: 2 stars at 140% each, 16 MP | Savage Blow 30: 6 hits at 75% each, 28 MP |
| More than one mob | No | Steal only: 2 mobs, once per mob |
| Weapon attack at level 40, not comparable across weapons | 28 + 17 = 45, assuming star attack adds | 58 |
| Running cost, nonstop, by estimate | Up to about 96,000 MP an hour, plus a few thousand mesos of recharge | Up to about 140,000 MP an hour, no ammo |
| What you shop for | Stars and claws. Shops stop at (level 25) | Daggers. Shops stop at (level 27) |
| Special edge | returns up to 25% of stars | Steal can give mesos, items and a 60 s Attack Power buff |
You will likely enjoy Assassin if you like hitting mobs before they reach you, want to choose your own spacing, and do not mind managing star stock.
You will likely enjoy Bandit if you prefer to stand in the fight, want one ammo-free attack with bigger hits, and will budget for more MP.
Neither clears a screen. With no area skill, both live on how few casts each kill takes. Classic World has no 3rd job right now, so do not pick either expecting a mob skill later. Thief build variants covers Sindit in detail.
Stats
LUK is thief damage. DEX is a toll you pay to hold your gear, so buy only what the next item asks for. STR and INT stay at 4.
By our estimate every stat starts at 4 and you place 9 points at creation. We plan on that: start with 12 LUK, 5 DEX, 4 STR and 4 INT. From there, DEX plus LUK at level N is 12 + 5N.
| Level | Claw path DEX / LUK | Dagger path DEX / LUK | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | 5 / 57 | 5 / 57 | Garnier needs 25 LUK, Triangular Zamadar 20 |
| 15 | 15 / 72 | 10 / 77 | Steel Titans, Field Dagger |
| 20 | 20 / 92 | 15 / 97 | Steel Igor, Coconut Knife. Armor from here needs 10 DEX |
| 25 | 25 / 112 | 20 / 117 | Meba, Iron Dagger |
| 30 | 30 / 132 | 25 / 137 | Guards, Reef Claw |
Claws need DEX equal to weapon level from 15 up. DEX daggers need level minus 5 from 15 up. If you stay on a weapon past its level, hold DEX there and put the difference in LUK.
We have not confirmed whether AP is yours to place before 10, so read the level 10 row as a total, not a promise. The later rows only need you to reach those numbers by then.
1st job at 10
See in , inside .
Whether the job asks for 25 DEX is unsettled. Launch data shows no gate, older pages list 25, and we found no official text or player report. If you can place your AP, cheap insurance is to reach 25 LUK and hold the rest of your points until you have spoken to the Dark Lord. Holding 20 is enough to cover it. If there is no gate, it costs you a little damage for a few levels.
By reference data, not confirmed in Classic World, you get 1 SP at the job and 3 a level, so 61 by 30. Spend all of it. Reports disagree on whether leftover 1st-job SP can be spent after 2nd job.
Assassin or Sindit
Dagger Bandit
The order puts your attack first for a simple reason: an early point in your main attack shortens every fight from 10 to 20, and range or evasion can wait a few levels.
Gear you can actually get
Everything in these tables has a shop, recipe or quest in our data, or a listed drop. "Listed" means the drop is reference data, not confirmed in Classic World. Report what you see at /report/drop.
Weapons
| Level | Claw (W.ATK) | Dagger (W.ATK) | Where |

| 25 | (19) | (40) | Manny: 16,500 and 13,500 |
| 27 | (45) | Manny: 14,700. Skip the Iron Dagger if you can wait two levels | |
| 30 | (23) | (48) | Weaponcrafting 6 or listed from , for the claw. Dagger listed only from in the first party quest stage |
| 35 | (26) | (53) | Weaponcrafting 7, or listed from and |
| 40 | (28) | (58), (55) | Weaponcrafting 8. Gephart listed from , the fan from , |
| 50 | (34), (34) | (68) | Listed from , , |
Above 50, weapon drops are unconfirmed and several have no source at all. One report so far says equipment above 50 is not in the game yet. Weaponcrafting ranks 9 and 10 may also be out of reach: a cap at rank 8 is reported.
Armor
LUK pieces only. Id pairs such as 1040 and 1041 look like male and female versions, but our data has no gender column, so check in game before you pay. Sets from level 30 are mostly absent from shops.

- Levels 10 to 25: all hats, tops and bottoms above are sold by in .
- Gloves and shoes: Leatherworking at the rank matching the level step: 3 at 15, 5 at 25, 6 at 30, 7 at 35, 8 at 40, 10 at 50. No shoe with a known source gives a thief LUK, so these are the best DEX lines.
- Sauna Robe: lists both and with no roll. It is the last of nine quests starting at in Sleepywood. They open at 32, but along the way they ask for 50 kills, 30 , 50 , 10 and 1 . You reach about 90% hits on Lupins near 38 by our estimate, so plan to start then. No shop sells a Diamond and no mob lists one. It comes from Arcforging 6 with , a 1 in 8 roll on , or other players, so get one first. The robe has +1 all stats, 75 W.DEF and 10 slots, with no DEX need.
- Level 35 set and hat: listed from .
- Dark Pilfer: the reward of includes it, at the end of the doll chain in Thief leveling. Also listed from .
- Level 50: listed drops. Blue China has LUK +3 and MP +20, Brown Moon LUK +5. Rank 10 Leatherworking may be out of reach.
Level 55 and up, gear drops are unconfirmed, and only quest gloves and earrings have a sure source. comes from .
Live picks from item stats, leaving out anything with no known source:
Picks are computed from the item stats (weapons by attack, armour by your main stat then defence) and skip anything with no known source; see the gear optimizer for every slot and where each piece comes from.
