Melee single-target damage with no ammo. When to move from Double Stab to Savage Blow, how to use Steal after the 15 October fix, and what the Sindit route costs.
Every number and name on this page is read live from the game data.
Pick Bandit if you want to stand in the fight with one big ammo-free attack. reaches 6 hits at skill rank 21, about character level 44 on the order below. adds an Attack Power buff. The cost is short reach, heavy MP use and almost no multi-target damage. Bandit tops launch-era community models on one target that stands still, and nobody has measured that in live play. Thief build compares it with Assassin.
Note
Classic World currently stops at level 100 and has no 3rd job, so plan on this job for a long time. By reference data, not confirmed in Classic World, you get 1 SP at advancement and 3 per level: 121 by level 70, 211 by 100. The six skills cost 140, so nobody maxes everything by 70, which is why the order below matters.
Getting the job
See , then the . You collect 30 inside the test map, . The Blue Mushrooms and Cold Eyes there have 789 HP and hit at 204 and 224 W.ATK. See Job advancement.
SP order
Our suggestion, argued from the skill tables. No plan has been tested live.
Booster stays at 1. Every rank gives the same speed step, so the point at 32 is about 20% more attacks by estimate, and later ranks only buy uptime. Do not leave Booster to the end. Mastery goes before Savage Blow because it unlocks Booster and raises every attack you make, including Double Stab.
Another sensible finish after Savage Blow is Haste 20, Nimble Recovery 12, Steal 30, then Booster to 9.
Double Stab or Savage Blow
Do not rush off if you have it. Savage Blow has no prerequisite, but its hit count jumps at ranks 11 and 21 and the percent per hit resets each time:

The last column assumes about 100 Double Stabs and 83 Savage Blows a minute boosted, which is an estimate. It tells you two things:
Savage Blow only passes Double Stab per minute at rank 21. From rank 11 to 20 its edge is per cast only, which matters only when it saves a cast on the kill. Below rank 11 Double Stab is ahead on both counts.
Rank 30 costs MP. It gives about 17% more damage a minute than Double Stab for about 45% more MP. On mobs that die in one or two Double Stabs, Double Stab is often the better press. Keep both bound.
Steal
Numbers: up to 2 mobs, 180% at rank 30, 90% success, +35 Attack Power for 60 s, a 1.5 s stun, 24 MP. Needs Haste 5.
As of the 15 October fix it only works when it hits. Before that it could fire on a miss.
Once per monster. You can retry until it lands, so a mob you stole from gives nothing more. Cast it on fresh spawns as the 60 s runs out.
It can open. Its box is 180 deep and 60 tall, about double Savage Blow's reach of 18 to 95.
It can also yield mesos and items, per Nexon's note. Nobody has measured how much.
How much +35 Attack Power adds is unsettled, since the damage formula itself is. Do not plan around a figure.
also gives a chance to ignore knockback, which suits a class that works up close.

DEX daggers need level minus 5, and needs 65. You reach that with no gear help by adding 1 DEX a level from 25 at 30. Hold DEX at the dagger you own and put the rest in LUK.

DEX or STR dagger. The DEX line is 1 W.ATK ahead. The STR line, plus the fan, swings one step faster (speed 3 against 4). The catch is that thief armor still needs DEX, so STR daggers charge you twice: STR for the blade, DEX for the armor. By our estimate that leaves them slightly behind. Buy what you can get. Thief build variants has the arithmetic.
Armor is the same as an Assassin's: see Thief build. A dagger leaves your off hand free. and exist at level 22, but neither has a known source.
Sindit
Sindit is not a separate job. It is a Bandit who levels on a claw and Lucky Seven to about 40, then uses an and moves to daggers. The dagger is most of the gain, so reset the day you can equip Gephart or better, not at a set level. Read Thief build variants before you buy anything: nobody has shown it beats a plain dagger Bandit overall.
Running cost
No stars, but you do not run cheap. Savage Blow 30 at 83 casts is up to 2,324 MP a minute, about 140,000 MP an hour at full tilt by estimate. That is more than Lucky Seven's 96,000, and it eats into what you save on stars. Treat both as ceilings.
Where to train
Follow Thief leveling, but favour maps with many spawn points: (99) at 22 to 27 and (97) at 34 to 42, over (33). You walk to each kill, so spread-out maps cost you more than they cost an Assassin. Spawn points are not mobs alive at once, so this is our reasoning, and nobody has logged it for Bandits.
Common mistakes
Skipping Booster until the end.
Maxing Haste before Mastery.
Expecting a mob skill. There is none, and no 3rd job exists yet.
Trusting old numbers. Steal is 60 s at 180%, and Lucky Seven is 140% a star.
