Assassin guide
Fast, ranged single-target damage with Lucky Seven. No area skill at all: what that means, an SP order argued from the skill tables, and how to budget stars and MP.
Every number and name on this page is read live from the game data.
Pick Assassin if you want ranged damage and to stay out of reach. stays your main attack the whole way. It reaches about 400 by our reading (200 plus 200 from ) and runs fast: about 100 casts a minute with Booster, by estimate. The trade is simple. You have no area skill, and you pay for stars and a lot of MP. Thief build compares this with Bandit.
Classic World currently stops at level 100 and has no 3rd job, so plan on this job for a long time. By reference data, not confirmed in Classic World, you get 1 SP at advancement and 3 per level: 121 by level 70, 211 by 100. The six skills cost 140, so nobody maxes everything by 70, which is why the order below matters.
Getting the job
See in , then the at . You collect 30 inside the test map, . It holds 13 Blue Mushrooms and 13 Cold Eyes, all level 30 with 789 HP. They hit at 204 and 224 W.ATK, harder than ordinary Ligators, so stock potions. They pay only 56 EXP. See Job advancement.
SP order
This is our suggestion, argued from the skill tables. No plan has been tested live.
Why this shape:
- Booster at 32, not later. Every rank gives the same speed step, so one point is the whole gain: about 20% more casts on a speed 4 claw, by estimate. It is the cheapest upgrade in the class, so do not leave it for later.
- Ranks past 1 buy comfort only. They add uptime and a cheaper cast. Booster 1 costs 30 HP and 30 MP per 100 s, a rounding error beside Lucky Seven's MP use. That is why it waits.
- Critical Recovery is small. It can fire at most every 30 seconds, so at most twice a minute, however large each recovery is.
- Drain stops at 11. Rank 30 is 240% for 28 MP, half Lucky Seven's damage per MP. It only returns a share of the damage as HP, capped at 25% of your max HP.
If you prefer the heal, the other sensible plan is Booster at 1, then Critical Recovery 20, Haste 20 and Drain 30 by level 70.
Stats
| Level | LUK | DEX |
|---|---|---|
| 30 | 132 | 30 |
| 40 | 172 | 40 |
| 50 | 212 | 50 |
| 60 | 252 | 60 |
| 70 | 292 | 70 |
Claws need DEX equal to weapon level from 15 up. DEX follows the claw you own, not your level, so if you stay on an older claw, put the difference in LUK. Everything else goes in LUK. STR and INT are not worth AP. Whether DEX on gear counts toward requirements is not confirmed.
By our estimate one W.ATK is worth about 4 to 5 LUK at every level from 30 to 70. Use that to compare a scroll with a star: 40,000 mesos for +1 W.ATK beats 40,000 for +1 LUK several times over, if glove attack counts on throws.
Claws
| Level | Claw | W.ATK | Where |

Listed drops are reference data, not confirmed in Classic World. A cap at Weaponcrafting 8 is reported, which would make Steel Avarice the last claw you can craft. Level 55+ gear drops are unconfirmed.
Meba to Guards is close to a wash at first. By our estimate only matches it, or gains about 3% with Booster, and gains about 3%, or 6% with Booster, for 5 more DEX. Later steps are real: +3, +3, +5, +7 and +5 W.ATK.
What you actually pay for
"Assassins are expensive" is true, but recharging is not the reason.
- MP is the big bill. At full tilt Lucky Seven is 100 casts at 16 MP, up to 96,000 MP an hour. On Oranges and Lemons, at 1 meso per MP, that is about 96,000 mesos before regen and mob drops. Treat it as a ceiling; nobody has measured real play.
- Recharge is small. The same hour of Subi recharge is at most 3,600 mesos.
- One-off buys depend on your tier. Shop stars and claws are cheap beside MP. Stars and claws bought from players can cost far more, so check /tools/market.
- Budget stars by the session. A 500-star stack is 250 casts, about 2.5 to 3 minutes of nonstop throwing by estimate. Carry spare sets and train near a seller.
Upgrade in this order: , then a new claw tier, then if you can buy them and glove attack counts on throws, then and . Stars above Wolbi have no shop price, so check /tools/market before you buy. Throwing stars has the numbers.
Armor
Most thieves wear a top and a bottom, but only three slots take LUK scrolls: Earring, Overall and Cape. So an overall is your only way to scroll LUK onto armor.
- lists both and with no roll. It is the last of nine quests starting at in Sleepywood. They open at 32, but Lupin kills and a Diamond put it nearer 38: Thief build lists the asks. The robe has +1 all stats and 10 slots, with no job or DEX need.
- Four level 35 Avenger overalls exist. and are listed drops. (LUK +6) has no known source. All four may be female-only, which is not confirmed.
- is +1 LUK at 100%, 40,000 mesos from . Reported to need grade 7, level 42, from test data. Quest rewards can include the Intermediate version.
Ten Lesser scrolls is 400,000 mesos for +10 LUK, worth about 2 W.ATK by the rule above. Do gloves first if glove attack counts on throws, which is not confirmed. If it does not, these are the better buy.
No shoe with a known source gives a thief LUK. Best DEX lines are (+3), (+4) and (+5). Without confirmed gear DEX, speed or evasion may serve you as well. Full armor by level is in Thief build, and the 40 hat carries you unless you find a .
Picks are computed from the item stats (weapons by attack, armour by your main stat then defence) and skip anything with no known source; see the gear optimizer for every slot and where each piece comes from.
Where to train
Follow the route in Thief leveling. One spot just after the job, and one for your 40s:
Use /tools/fight for casts to kill. If it takes more than 2 to 3 casts on average, or 3 to 4 from the late 40s, a denser or easier map usually beats it.
Common mistakes
- Standing on top of mobs. One report so far says the claw punches at very close range, so step back. Another says a jump throw avoids it.
- Buying stars above Wolbi before the claw and potions.
- Forgetting Booster at 32.
- Expecting to clear packs. You have no area skill, and no 3rd job exists yet.
Players also report that a jump throw can reach lanes above you. On a shared map that can look like stealing kills, so change channel rather than argue over it.
Not confirmed yet
