Throwing stars and arrows: attack, cost per hour, and where to get them
Every star and arrow in Classic World with attack, stack size and price, how recharging really works, what an hour of Lucky Seven costs, which upgrade to buy first, and free scrolls from quests.
Every number and name on this page is read live from the game data.
Stars are a stock you refill. Arrows are bought and burned. Neither is your biggest bill: MP is. So buy the upgrade that adds the most attack per mesos, and spend your attention on staying near a seller.
Star item text gives weapon attack, and our estimates assume it adds to the claw's. Arrows from Bronze up list it too; plain arrows add none.
Throwing stars
How recharging works. Stars run out. Each throw spends the count, and spends 2 a cast. An empty stack stays in your inventory as an item, and you pay a per-star fee to refill it. Do not sell it: a refill is far cheaper than a new set. returns up to 25% of used stars at rank 20.
A full refill costs 150 mesos on 500 Subis, 200 on 500 Wolbis, 420 on 700 Kumbis, 700 on 1,000 Tobis and 720 on 800 Ilbis. Players recharge at NPCs that sell stars. We cannot show which NPCs do it, or whether recharging needs a citizenship grade.
What it costs per hour
Casts a minute x 2 x 60 x fee gives the hourly recharge. These are ceilings from nonstop throwing at estimated attack rates. Real play has walking and looting, so real cost is lower, and nobody has measured it. The second figure in each cell assumes 25% star return.
| Star | Fee | 83 casts a minute | 100 casts a minute |
|---|---|---|---|
| Subi | 0.3 | 2,988 / 2,241 | 3,600 / 2,700 |
| Wolbi | 0.4 | 3,984 / 2,988 | 4,800 / 3,600 |
| Mokbi | 0.5 | 4,980 / 3,735 | 6,000 / 4,500 |
| Kumbi | 0.6 | 5,976 / 4,482 | 7,200 / 5,400 |
| Tobi | 0.7 | 6,972 / 5,229 | 8,400 / 6,300 |
| Ilbi | 0.9 | 8,964 / 6,723 | 10,800 / 8,100 |
| Hwabi | 1.0 | 9,960 / 7,470 | 12,000 / 9,000 |
Put that beside MP. The same 100 casts at 16 MP is up to 96,000 MP an hour, about 96,000 mesos on Oranges and Lemons at 1 meso per MP. Even Hwabis are an eighth of that. So stars are not free, but MP drains an Assassin first.
Think in minutes, not hours. A 500 stack is 250 casts, about 2.5 to 3 minutes nonstop by estimate. That is why shop distance matters more than the fee. Train near a seller, or carry spare sets. A spare Subi set is 500 mesos and one inventory slot.
Which upgrade to buy
Gain over Subi from W.ATK alone, by estimate, assuming star attack adds to claw attack. It fits the idea that W.ATK multiplies everything else.
| Claw W.ATK | Wolbi | Mokbi | Kumbi | Tobi | Ilbi | Hwabi |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 23 (Guards) | +5% | +11% | +16% | +21% | +32% | +37% |
| 29 (Avarice) | +5% | +9% | +14% | +18% | +27% | +32% |
| 34 (Slain) | +4% | +8% | +12% | +16% | +24% | +29% |
| 46 (Brown Scarab) | +3% | +7% | +10% | +13% | +20% | +23% |
Stars matter most on a weak claw. In order:
- . +2 W.ATK for 1,000 mesos a set. Nothing else comes close.
- A new claw tier. +3 to +7 W.ATK against +2 for the next star. After Wolbi, buy the claw before any further star.
- . +1 W.ATK at 100%, 40,000 mesos at or . Five on one pair of gloves is 200,000 for +5, if a glove's attack adds to throws, which is likely but unconfirmed. Reported to need citizenship grade 9, from test data.
- , then . Each step adds +2 and costs more than the last.
- Tobi and up: check the price first. No shop sells them, so the price is whatever players ask. Check /tools/market on the day.
Where stars come from
- : 500 mesos at , , , , , and . General stores such as do not stock them.
- : 1,000 mesos at in Kerning City. Reported to need grade 3, level 22, from test data. Other players sell them too.
- Mokbi and above: no shop, quest or recipe gives them, and no drop is confirmed. Buy from other players.
- Event stars: , and match Wolbi, Mokbi and Kumbi attack, but pay the top fee of 1.0 per star. Keep them if you have them, and expect to pay more to refill. Wooden Top is listed from and , unconfirmed. It is +19 if one falls, but stores ask about as much for it as for Mokbi, so it is no cheap buy.
Free scrolls from quests
Many useful scrolls come free from quests. These lists carry equal weights in the client, and they are reported to be random rolls, not picks. So you may not get the scroll you want, and the odds below are each row's share. Trade what you cannot use to other players.
| Quest | Level | What it asks | For a thief |
|---|---|---|---|
| 16 | 20 Green and 20 Blue Mushroom Caps | Hat Accuracy Lesser, Intermediate or Greater, 1 in 3 each | |
| 20 | 30 Blue and 30 Horny Mushroom kills, 15 caps of each | 14 weapon scrolls. and are 1 in 14 each | |
| 21 | A King Slime kill | , 1 in 4 | |
| 36 | 150 Zombie Lupins and 150 dolls. 4th of 5, see Thief leveling | , 1 in 2 | |
| 42, see below | Deliver the cape gives you, the last of four quests from | , 1 in 4 | |
| 44, see below | 100 and 50 kills plus items, after the first two challenges | or , 1 in 4 each |
So Jane at 20 pays a claw or dagger scroll only about 1 time in 7. It is still worth doing for 1,610 EXP and a scroll to trade. An NPC pays 1 meso for it, so sell to a player.
Two rows ask for far more than their level suggests:
- needs , then (15 , 30 , 30 ), then (30 , 1 , 1 ). The Ancient Scroll is listed only from level 58 , reference data, unconfirmed. Unless you buy it from other players, this is not a level 42 job. The reward is a 10% scroll on a 1 in 4 roll, so count the cost first.
- also asks for 20 , 10 and 1 , and before it asks for 3 . No mob or shop in our data gives Moon Rock or Drake's Blood, so buy them from players. Stores list both. See Thief leveling.
These lists work differently. They are keyed by job, or carry no roll weight:
| Quest | Level | Reward includes | How it pays |
|---|---|---|---|
| 36 | Thief row of a list keyed by job. 5th of 5 in the doll chain | ||
| , | 48 | , | Thief rows of a list keyed by job. Both are listed; which one you get is not confirmed. also needs a , which no mob we can show drops, so buy it from a player |
| 48 | Reads as your choice, not confirmed | ||
| 27 | Reads as your choice, not confirmed | ||
| 37 | Reads as your choice, not confirmed. The step before it wants 10 . Reference data lists that item only on , which has no map in our tables. to share its stats and do spawn, but we have no drop data for them. Stores list the item, so buy it from a player if Fairies do not drop it |
The Henesys arcs pay the same scrolls at and .
Claw and dagger Intermediates are +2 at 60%, so 1.2 W.ATK expected. Greaters are +4 at 10%, so 0.4 expected. Use Intermediates, and treat a Greater as a gamble or something to sell. Whether a failed scroll spends a slot is not confirmed. See Scrolling.
Arrows
Who sells them. Plain and are 1 meso each at , , , , and , or 2 mesos at . Weapon shops sell none. Bronze arrows are 2 mesos at , reported to need grade 3.
Everything above Bronze is crafted. No shop or drop row exists for Iron, Adamantium or Mithril. Woodcrafting makes them 500 at a time, with no fee:
| Rank | Arrows | Materials |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Plain | 1 , 1 |
| 4 | Bronze | Add 1 |
| 7 | Iron | Add 1 |
| 10 | Adamantium or Mithril | 1 , 1 or , 12 |
A cap at rank 8 is reported, which would put the top arrows out of reach. Rank 1 also swaps 100 of the wrong arrows for 50 of the right kind.
Both plain materials start on one map. holds 16 Stumps (, about 45% over 207 counted kills) and 10 Ribbon Pigs (, about 13% over 40 counted kills). 10 Tree Branches and 100 mesos make 1 at rank 1. Crafting opens at level 10, and in Henesys Market is the carpenter. A batch saves only a few hundred mesos against the shop, so craft to raise rank, not for income.
Drops do not cover it. The best rows work out to about 1 arrow a kill or less, and a Double Shot spends 2.
How long a stack lasts. At an estimated 68 shots a minute, 1,000 plain arrows is about 15 minutes of nonstop , which spends 1 arrow a shot. spends 2, so about 7 minutes. That is roughly 4,000 mesos an hour of Arrow Blow at most. Arrow Blow 20 costs 14 MP, so MP is the larger bill here too.
Soul Arrow. and are 2nd-job skills, and each needs Booster 5. They stop arrows being used while active: 25 MP for 60 s at rank 1, 5 MP for 300 s at rank 20. On the bowman tables that means around level 34. After that arrows mostly stop mattering, though whether you can fire with none in your inventory is not confirmed.
Upgraded arrows. Their +1 to +3 is modest. If Bronze attack counts, it doubles your ammo price for about the effect of one glove scroll. Worth testing before you pay for it.
For bowman skill plans, see Hunter and Crossbowman.
