Fire/Poison Wizard guide
Fire Arrow for single targets, Poison Breath once three or more mobs are in the box. SP order, the choice at 41, gear to 50, and how to get through the fire-resist 50s.
Every number and name on this page is read live from the game data.
Pick Fire/Poison if you want the strongest single-target spell of the three mage branches and a real group spell, and you accept the bigger potion bill. Fire Arrow reaches 180 against Cold Beam's 170 and Holy Arrow's 160, but at 28 MP against Cold Beam's 22.
Classic World stops at level 100. As of November 2026 it has no 3rd job, so plan on this job for the long haul. By our estimate you get 1 SP at advancement and 3 a level, not confirmed in Classic World: 121 by 70, 211 by 100. Every 2nd-job tree costs 140, so all of it is maxed at level 77. Whether later SP can go into 1st-job skills is unknown.
Damage figures on this page use community formulas that Nexon has not confirmed.
Getting the job
See , then the in . The test is : you collect 30 inside the test map, you do not bring them. Keep a free Use slot. See Job advancement.
SP order
The choice at 41: Poison Breath or Meditation
If your maps give you spread-out mobs, flip the middle. Take MP Eater 3 at 41, Meditation 20 by 48, then Poison Breath 30 by 58. Meditation adds +25 M.ATK to every spell, about +12 to 15% by our estimate. Both orders reach the same spend at 58, so this only changes levels 41 to 57 and needs no reset.
If you stand on dense maps, keep the table above.
Poison Breath first?
This is a real option since v1.1.0 raised Poison Breath to 60–90 on 29 Oct. It works because a maxed Energy Bolt can stay your single-target spell for a while. One report so far says poison-first earns well in the right spots, and nobody has compared the two. Choose it only if you already know you will farm dense maps.
How to play it
- Keep casting Energy Bolt early. Fire Arrow matches Bolt's value at skill level 6, but its low mastery means wide damage swings. By our estimate its average passes a maxed Bolt around skill level 15, so about level 35. On fire-weak mobs it pays sooner.
- Three in the box or do not press it. Poison Breath 30 is 2.25 value per MP per target. Fire Arrow 30 is 6.43. Below three targets you lose on MP. Using it on one mob is the classic waste.
- Mind the box. It is 260 wide and 100 tall, 300 wide from skill level 16. It hits up to 6 and poisons at 45% rising to 75%, for 5 seconds.
- Plan on neutral mobs in the 50s. See below.
- MP Eater needs mob MP. It cannot absorb from 0-MP mobs, so it idles on Ligators.
Fire-resist mobs cannot be burned, and poison-resist mobs cannot be poisoned. Poison-immune mobs such as , and take no real damage from it.
